The gridlock on the Lokoja-Okene road was at a complete standstill on Friday morning, spanning several kilometres around Itakpe.
Gridlock was caused by a container which fell off an articulated vehicle – Lagos APP 132 XC – beside NIPCO filling station.

Around midday, Federal Road Safety Corps officials arrived and attempted to free up the road at Okene end but they had no towing vehicle with which to remove the fallen container.
An FRSC offical was heard joking that the towing vehicle had been sent to Ekpoma for an assignment.
Eventually, a Julius Berger truck – BR 266 XA Berger B 8436 was seen trying to drag the container off the road.
But there was no movement still. The Lokoja-Okene road is a major route which connects the North and South.
