3 docked for stealing handsets in Osogbo

Three persons were on Tuesday arraigned before an Osogbo Chief Magistrates' Court for allegedly stealing handsets.
The suspects, Abdullahi Ahmed, 25, Arafat Mohammed, 22 and Ismaila Owolabi, 27 were charged with intent to commit felony and stealing.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Solomon Oladele, told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on Sept. 15 between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Oja-Oba area in Osogbo.
Oladele said that the accused persons conspired and entered the house of Babatunde Waheed, a mobile phones’ seller, with intent to commit felony and stealing.
He said that the accused persons subsequently stole four different handsets, valued at N34,700, from Waheed's apartment.
He said that their offence contravened Sections 516, 411 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 34, Vol. 11, Laws of Osun 2003.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges, while their counsel, Mr Tunde Adewunmi, applied for their bail in liberal terms.
The Chief Magistrate, Olusola Aluko, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50 000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.
Aluko, however, ordered that the sureties must be resident within the court's jurisdiction, adding that they should also provide tax clearance certificates and two passport photographs to the court.
He later adjourned the case to Oct.18
